Year 3 Fall Tryouts Announcement: Everything You Need to Know for Our 2025–2026 Season

We’re excited to announce tryouts for the 2025–2026 Calgary Impact Basketball season! This fall marks our third season, and we can’t wait to welcome back our returning players while meeting new athletes and families ready to join the Impact community.

Below you’ll find everything you need to know about our four distinct teams and how to get involved this year.


Program Highlights

  • Professional Coaching Staff – Our coaches bring experience from professional basketball and mentorship as role models.

  • Competitive & Accessible – From elite exposure to beginner development, there’s a place for every athlete.

  • Affordable Options – Flexible payment plans and financial support through KidSport Calgary for eligible families.

  • Strong Partnerships – Collaborations with the City of Calgary, UCalgary Dinos, and NBC Camps.

  • Travel Opportunities – Past trips include Edmonton, Vancouver, and even Mexico, with more to come.


Team Overviews


Post Grad Team (U20)

  • Designed For: Grade 12 or one year post-grad players seeking high-level exposure to post-secondary basketball (ACAC, USports, and prep schools).

  • Season: October to January, including film review sessions and player placement assistance.

  • Game Schedule: Competitive tournaments around Calgary, Alberta, BC, and Washington (USA)

  • Commitment: 3 on-court practices + 1 strength & conditioning session per week at World Gym Sunridge. All practices are in the north end of Calgary.

  • Roster: Maximum 10 players.

  • Cost: $1,750 (+ travel fees for trips to the USA, Edmonton, and Vancouver). A $500 deposit is due after tryouts, with the remaining balance paid in two additional installments.


Team Red (U17)

  • Designed For: Elite players preparing for high-level high school basketball and the spring season. Standout players may get opportunities with the Post Grad Team.

  • Season: September to November, ending before the high school season.

  • Game Schedule: Competitive tournaments around Calgary and around Alberta on Weekends

  • Commitment: 2 on-court practices + 1 strength & conditioning session per week at World Gym Sunridge.

  • Roster: 10 players.

  • Cost: $1,250 (+ minimal travel fees for Calgary & area tournaments). A $500 deposit is due after tryouts, with the remaining balance paid in two additional installments.


Team White (U17)


  • Designed For: Beginner and intermediate players looking for more coaching and game time. Standout players may practice and play with Team Red and the Post Grad team.

  • Season: September to December.

  • Game Schedule: Tournaments, leagues, and games within the Calgary and surrounding area.

  • Commitment: 2 on-court practices and 1 game per week (in league or tournament). All practices are in the north end of Calgary.

  • Roster: 12 players.

  • Cost: $1,000 (+ travel fees for optional trips). A $500 deposit is due after tryouts, with the remaining balance paid in two additional installments.


Team Blue (Development Team)


  • Designed For: This program focuses on the basics, with all players receiving balanced playing time. Depending on their development, outstanding players may be invited to higher-level practices.

  • Season: September to December.

  • Game Schedule: Play in exhibitions, in-house games, and a local league, along with one game weekly.

  • Commitment: 1-2 practices per week and a game weekly, with all practices taking place in the NE/SE.

  • Roster: 12 players.

  • Cost: $650. A $300 deposit is due after tryouts, with the remaining payment due by October 1st.


Tryout Details

Date: Saturday, September 13th, 2025

Location: The YYC Active Facility and RISE Sports Complex *Park Courts (different entrances in the same building at 401 33 St NE).

What to Bring: Proper basketball attire, your own basketball, and water.

Evaluation Criteria: Our coaches will assess skill, attitude, effort, and potential. Showcasing technical ability is important, but so is demonstrating your eagerness to learn, hustle, and work effectively with teammates.


U20 (2006/2007)(Post Grad):

Time: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Location: RISE Facility (Park Courts, not the main Rise Facility courts).


U15/16/17 (2008-2010-2011)(Team Blue, White, & Red) :

Time: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Location: YYC Active Facility (all courts).


Tryout Fee: $10 (payable in cash on-site or via e-transfer to calgaryimpactbasketball@gmail.com). Tryouts are Free for all returning players.


Financial Assistance

Kidsport Funding is available for eligible families in the lower-income bracket. You can apply once per year.
