Calgary Impact at Vista Heights School
From November 17th to 20th, Calgary Impact took our program to the hardwood and the hallways of Vista Heights School. For four days, our coaching staff had the privilege of running a specialised school basketball program for every student from Kindergarten through Grade 6.
Fun, Fundamentals, and Future Leaders
With over 131 kids participating throughout the week, the energy in the gym was competitive and electric. We believe that the best way to learn the game is to love the game, so our program focused on "fun-first" fundamentals, blending essential skill-building drills with high-energy games. The sessions were led by two of our standout coaching staff members, who also serve as key players on our Post-Grad Team. Having these elite athletes work directly with the students created an incredible bridge between the next generation and those currently competing at the highest levels.
More Than Just a Game
At Calgary Impact, one of our core pillars is Community Impact. We teach our players that basketball is more than a sport; it is a universal tool for connection, discipline, and joy.
"Basketball isn't just for 'basketball players'—it’s a platform for everyone to build confidence and community." - Coach Wahid (Founder, Calgary Impact
By bringing our Post-Grad players into elementary schools, we aren't just teaching layups; we are teaching our athletes the importance of giving back. It’s about showing these kids that with hard work and a positive attitude, they can achieve their goals—whether on the court or in the classroom.
Camp Highlights:
Total Reach: 131+ students across 7 grade levels.
Mentorship: Coaching provided by Post-Grad student-athletes.
The Mission: Proving that basketball is a tool for everyone to enjoy, regardless of skill level.
We want to thank the staff and students at Vista Heights for their incredible energy and for welcoming us into their community.
